Stages of Treatment

1
Consultation
15–30 minute informal phone free call where we discuss your needs and explore whether my services are a good match.
2
Initial Assessment
50 minutes to an hour appointment entailing further information on current difficulties, risk assessment and specific goals to achieve within therapy.
3
Treatment
Hour long appointments every week or every other week. Learning new techniques and tools to manage current difficulties. Becoming your own therapist by the end of treatment.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT is a structured, evidence-based form of talking therapy that focuses on the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and behaviours. It helps you understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck and teaches practical skills to manage challenges more effectively.
CBT is a collaborative process. You bring expertise about your own experiences, and I bring expertise in CBT — together, we work to develop a personalised treatment plan. This often involves identifying unhelpful thought patterns, exploring how they influence your emotions and actions, and learning techniques to create healthier, more balanced responses.
Sessions typically last 50–60 minutes. Many clients find that around six sessions are helpful, although the length of therapy can vary depending on your needs and the nature of the difficulties you wish to address
